RE5
« on: March 16, 2009, 01:35:33 PM »

Picked it up friday. Just hit the last chapter and will be done with it this afternoon.

Anyone else played this?

I love the game. It's not a Resident Evil game, in the classic sense of the word, but I still love it. It feels like they mixed Bond + Myst for the atmosphere and shoved polished RE4 game play into it. Creates a very fluid, fun game, but a game entirely lacking in the 'ZOMG I'M GONNA DIE!!!' department. The whole, 'creepy, creepy, waiit... a second. GAH!! wtf!?!? Does that thing have HORNS!?!??!??!' feeling is gone.

Still, I'll take the fluid controls and polished gameplay over the feeling of dread.

I've been playing it for a couple weeks off and on.  I think I'm only on chapter 4.  It's been super fun so far.

Except those huge flying bat things that you have to proximity mine to slow down enough to kill.

I hate them.

Have the game, haven't played it.

Word is its incredible co-op game and a blast to play.  Only part of the "Resident Evil" left in it though is the fact that you can't run and shoot...   true?

I didn't play many of the other ones, and I don't remember any part of them.

But it is true that you cannot run and shoot.

True. Cannot run and knife either. Cannot move and attack. The enemies move so slow that it's rarely, if ever, an issue.
And the backstory. That's mostly RE.

My xbox just E74'd, so it'll be a titch before I finish this. :\

i've been playing this a lot. i've always loved RE so naturally i love this one as well.

i've mostly played on the ps3 with my bro coop online, if you already have friends who play this it is simple to play and match up, you can give your online friend anything but treasures and weapons. when one person picks up a gemstone or other treasure both players get it. same for shooting BSAA emblems.

so if you are a purist and want to do it all by yourself don't play online unless you have some one you can trust to let you figure stuff out on your own but still help you out when you will inevitably need it.

my bro just loves to use his knife, so he has a serious stock pile of ammo, he has maxed out (999) on at least one slot of pistol ammo. i think he should give it to me.

as for console comparison, they look almost exactly the same. one cut scene the ps3 was more realistic because a back lit zombie was darker in the sunset than a more front lit zombie on the 360. nit picky.

i think this will be the game to beat for game of the year. it's just so much fun.

still haven't gotten a chance to play.  Stupid jobs and need for money getting in the way of all the fun.

I'm back in action. Am sporting the new Jasper chipset (it's soooo quiet in comparison to the older models) in the RE5 edition console. Only time a retailer warranty has ever been worth it.

I got to the very end. As in RE4, they went OVERBOARD with the quick action 'press x to dodge' during cutscenes and bossfights towards the end. I swear you had to have the reflexes of a 2 year old on crack cocaine to get some of them.

Anyway, I beat the final boss annnnndddd the game freezes. At the load to the final cutscene. XD
