A higher standard means that penalties are harsher for them than a regular citizen.  If you don't know what I'm saying or have never heard of what I'm saying you need help.

Just because he doesn't agree doesn't mean he's never heard of what you're saying.

I agree with him, everyone should be held to the same standard.

It isn't that he is not agreeing with me.  He said "i don't see how you can hold someone to beyond the law."  He obviously is not interpreting my words the way I meant for them to be interpreted.  By higher standard I am saying the penalty set forth in the law is heavier for a public official.

You should be clearer if you'd like to avoid misunderstandings.

I don't agree with you.  The law is the law, the punishment is the punishment.  It should apply to everyone.

If politicians are to be held to beyond the law, why shouldn't poor people be held to lower than the law? How aobut gays? Maybe we could introduce some nice race standards as well.

Everyone should be equal under the law, especially those who make it.

Ok stop saying beyond the law...I just had to clarify that the previous post.  WE (the public) pay for their jobs, that's why.

Wouldn't then everyone be held to an equal standard? So, we're back to the beginning.

Hooray.

President Obama's nominee to become the government's first "Chief Performance Officer" has withdrawn from her nomination, citing personal tax issues.

Nancy Killefer, Obama's nominee, becomes the third high-profile appointee to become embroiled in personal tax issues, but the first to have withdrawn.
