Who here is a fan of it?

Who prefers a bit more form to their music?

Who hates it?

What do you think?

-----

I personally love improv when people are skillful enough to actually improv. It's such a refreshing escape from the repetitive, dull mainstream crap you hear so much in the U.S. I'm still developing a taste for completely free form improv (dynamic time signatures, no chord progression, no form to improv to) but I have heard some really neat stuff.

Personally, I associate free styling with rhyming and the spoken word.
whereas
I associate improvisation with instruments.

To demonstrate an extreme example, a sample of 'Free Jazz' by Ornette Coleman's quartet.

Something more structured by the same quartet

i am not a big jazz fan, but some people are good at improv other people just muck it up.  I haven't heard any good improv come about recently.
