I am replacing my whole pc at work. I was wondering if I should take some parts from my PC and stick in it while upgrading my pc?

I have a custom case with amd athlon 64 x2 Dual Core 4200+ with 2 gig of ram and a NVIDIA DeForce 7900 GT/GTO

My work PC is a ten year old HP that I will sledge hammer when done.

Maybe buying a custom from somone else may save me some money like this?

if it's 10 years old then there's very little you can use from it to place into a new pc. what you need depends on what you will do with this new rig, of course.

For a work computer, get a Dell.

Then if you really need to, you can upgrade the Dell with old parts from your current machine.

I SERIOUSLY doubt that there is anything from your gaming PC that you can put into your 10 year old HP machine.  Probably not even the hard drives.

Build a new gaming machine.

How about you take your gaming rig to work and build a new gaming rig?

It's so cheap to build a PC these days that you could easily slap a decent gaming rig together for $500 and a killer gaming rig for $800. Prices have taken a serious downturn in the past 3 years.

Although, if stability and reliability are your two main concerns, it may just be best to get a dell.

My current gaming rig is too flashy for work. I was just going to buy something black for it. But I know if I had the guts at work I would be very happy.

Are you and Jake serious about Dell? I was looking at swapping parts every two years from home to work so I have really good rig at home.

I was not planning on putting anything in the olf hp except a sledge hammer.

800? LETS BUILD!

Buy cheap for work.  Work computers don't need to do anything but open Office documents and connect to the internet.  Why spend any money on something that does more than that if you don't need it.

Also, if you lease through Dell you can deduct it from your business taxes.

Yeah cheap is the main intention. Thats why the guts from my gaming pc are going in there.

Dell.  You can get a Core 2 Duo machine for around $300.  At that price, I don't think it's worth it to have to worry about the hassle of upgrading and swapping out parts.

Sell your current gaming PC on craigslist when you build your new gaming PC.  I'm sure it'll more than cover the cost of the new Dell PC.

Good thought but my main intention is to not have a pc that is slowly being outdated and nothing I can do about it. Like this HP I have. I cannot add more ram. I cannot upgrade hardly anything on it to make it a viable rig anymore. If deel allows yu to replace themotherboard to the ram to the graphics card I may be interested. But if I built one I could change anything in it at any time.

Uhhhh, you can replace the motherboard on any computer.  You just need the correct form factor.  Dell computers are upgradable.

Most come with PCI-x16 slots.  Most will support 4 GB RAM.

I understand that your comprehension of the subject is limited, so any help I offer may or may not make any sense to you.  This isn't meant as an insult.

Basically, do what you want.
