To anyone who owns any of the following titles and does not want to pay for Xbox Live, jump for joy!

• Universe at War
• Shadowrun
• Lost Planet: Colonies Edition

You now have limited access to Xbox Live until the fall system update. Yipee!

To everyone else: you’re out of luck.

Before you cry stupidity in its finest form, Microsoft did do this in lieu of the decision to provide games for Windows Live with free online multiplayer. A novel idea, considering PC games (MMOs excluded) have had free multiplayer for as long as I can remember. Regardless, now the console equivalents can play with their PC buddies. At least until fall. No word on whether or not this will be a long term thing, or juts a few month promotion.
