After what seems like an eternity, Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning has a release date - September 18th. Mythic Entertainment founder Mark Jackobs has this to say on the subject,
“The countdown has officially begun. Mark your calendars! September 18th is the Day of Reckoning. For the last three years, the entire team at Mythic has poured their hearts into making Warhammer Online the next great MMORPG. We are so excited to open up this world and share it with the fans that will live in it, quest in it, go to war in it and make it come alive.”
Noteworthy: This game will do something that has never been done before - launch all of its Western, Europe, and Oceanic servers at the same time. With the extreme disparity between country release dates, this will be a welcome change. Although, that will not make up for a mediocre game.
Warhammer has not yet exited closed beta and the rumor is that content is being cut to make the release date; always scary to hear. It seems that every MMO ever has done this, WoW included. Now that WoW has set such an awesome standard in the industry, however, a game like Warhammer cannot afford to force a release date. We all saw what happened to Age of Conan this year, Warhammer should not expect anything different if they deliver similar results.
